Lansing, MI – Michigan wines will be the focus of a one-night only showcase event taking place in downtown Chicago on Monday, August 29. Ticket holders will meet winery proprietors and winemakers – while sampling some of the state’s finest wines and ciders.
The Gage, a trendsetting restaurant and event space, is hosting the Michigan Wines Showcase. The restaurant created a Michigan inspired menu to compliment this anticipated event. Tickets are available for purchase at http://www.michiganwines.com/chicago-tickets, with the first 50 ticket holders receiving Michigan -themed goodie bags.
Thirteen wineries and 65 wines and ciders from all over the state will be represented at the Chicago Showcase including Black Star Farms, Chateau Chantal, Dablon, Fenn Valley Vineyards, Free Run cellars, Good Harbor Vineyards, Lemon Creek Winery, Mari Vineyards, Round Barn Winery, St. Julian Winery, Tabor Hill Winery, Vander Mill Cider, White Pine Winery & Wyncroft Marland.
Many of the Gold Medal winning wines from the 2016 Michigan Wine Competition will be available for sample at the Chicago Showcase. These wines include Black Star Farm’s 2013 Arcturos Pinot Noir, Fenn Valley Winery’s 2013 Meritage, Mari Vineyard’s 2012 Cabernet Franc, and Round Barn Winery’s 2013 Merlot. St. Juian’s Best of Class winning Red Heron will also be featured at the event.
“This is a really exciting time for Michigan wine,” said Karel Bush, executive director of the Michigan Grape & Wine Industry Council. “The vineyards have experienced a favorable growing season and are on track to welcome an abundant harvest.”
Chicago residents have long supported Michigan wineries, and represent a large percentage of the traffic to the Michiganwines.com website. Karel continued, “We love taking our Showcase event to Chicago. We always receive a very warm welcome.”
The Michigan Grape and Wine Industry Council is a 12-member panel that supports the growth of the grape and wine industry in Michigan. It is housed in the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development, which is the official state agency charged with serving, promoting and protecting the food, agriculture and agricultural economic interests of the people of the state of Michigan.
