August 1 marks one of our favorite beer holidays – IPA Day! Started in 2011, IPA Day isn’t some marketing tool thought up in a conference room – it’s a day for craft beer makers and lovers to celebrate one of the most beloved beer styles in the world.

IPA’s date back a long way. While the details of it’s origin are debated among beer enthusiasts, the basic story is that the English soldiers wanted beer while they were stationed in India. They knew traditional beer styles would spoil on such a long boat journey, so they needed to find a way to preserve the beer. They added more hops to increase the longevity of the beer, and boom! IPA’s were born!

IPA’s have evolved into several different styles – American IPA’s, Belgian IPA’s, Black IPA’s, Double IPA’s, etc, but all are characterized by their distinctive hop flavor.

So, to celebrate one of the greatest beer styles in the world, we want to know what Michigan’s Favorite IPA is. Below you’ll find a list of every Michigan IPA we could think of – this includes Doubles, Triples, Rye IPA’s, and more – we wanted to be as comprehensive as possible. Cast your vote for your favorite IPA!

Don’t see your favorite? Write it in in the “other” section – those votes count too!

We’ll keep the poll open for a day or two, then announce the winner! We’ll feature the winning beer and brewery here on Drink Michigan.

Get to voting (you can cast up to 5 votes), and let your friends know!
