Last Thursday, August 22nd, we joined forces with First Step of Wayne County to put on a Roaring Twenties themed charity event in order to raise money for First Step, and raise awareness of some of the amazing beverages made right here in Michigan. The event took place at the stunning Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth.
We took over the Galilee Ballroom for the evening and started the night off with a cocktail hour featuring historian Gerry Wykes. He spoke on Detroit during the Prohibition era, and guests mingled showing off their 1920’s inspired dress. Of course I wish I would have taken more pictures, because everyone went all out and looked outstanding!
The rest of the night featured 4 more seated courses, each paired with a choice of Michigan wine from Black Star Farms, beer from Kuhnhenn Brewing Co., or a cocktail made with Valentine Distilling Co. spirits. The cocktails were designed by Nick Britsky of NickDrinks.com. There was a Pop Rocks in a cocktail drink, a beet infused vodka Tom Collins, and even strawberry and walnut mix. The drinks were all fantastic and paired perfectly with the spread from the Inn.
Everything about the night was perfect. But what made it even more special were the generous donations from all that attended. We were able to raise just over $10,000 for First Step to help support their mission to reduce the incidence of domestic and sexual violence and to provide services to individuals affected by these crimes. A huge thanks goes out to the event sponsors:
