Stephen Roginson is on a mission to open Detroit’s first Nano Brewery – Batch Brewing Company. We’re honored to share his story as he moves toward raising the funds necessary to make a Corktown brewery a reality. Stephen has the commitment, the passion, the drive to work hard, and amazing beer – he needs our help with the funds. If you have a few dollars to spare, please consider donating to help Batch Brewing open their doors.
6 a.m. on Saturday morning. Where were you?
Probably sawing logs in bed, like my daughter Ayla, or my girlfriend Diana. I, on the other hand, was racking beer, tasting new recipes at the end of primary, doling out high-fives to myself for some tasty brews that are under construction.
For these last weeks – no exaggeration – I’ve been waking up from dreams about beer and heading right in to the brewery to work. Obsessed? I’ve been called worse.
Insert platitude here: Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.
Horse feathers. I go home with aching knees and back, burns, and all sorts of other nonsense. I’m working my tail off. What I will say: there’s more joy in my life in the last few months than any time in recent memory, due in no small part to Batch
Brewing Company.
Passion has been getting me out of bed before my alarm goes off. Pretty soon, I’ll be able to do it for a living. In my experience, it’s a unique force. Latch on to that passion, ride it like a wave coming to shore, and paddle out for another one. The riding takes work, and the paddling back out takes work, too. But, wow – what a buzz.
We’re getting closer, every day. Ten days to go, and then we’ll stop talking about opening our doors, and actually work on getting our doors open.
Then we’ll pour you a beer or two.
