Valentine’s Day is about celebrating with the ones we love, and since I love Michigan bottles, it’s a no-brainer that I’ll be enjoying a fine Mitten-made (or two!) with my wife this Tuesday. I’ve got two beverages to recommend for just this occasion, one to start the night and one to wrap up the evening.
At Vinotecca, our selection of sparkling wines include some of the finest Michigan has to offer. Sweet, rich and fizzy, that’s just how I’d start a romantic night any time, but especially Valentine’s Day. A rosé has a playful color that’s perfect for the occasion.
I recommend L.Mawby’s Blanc de Noirs, or from their less expensive M. Lawrence line, “Sex” (no pun intended, that’s really the name of the bubbly).
And since winter FINALLY showed up this past week, and the cold has settled in, we’re gonna want something to warm us up!
I’ve got something a little different in mind – a spicy cherry chipotle mead from B. Nektar Meadery. Incredibly rich, it slowly heats up in the back of your throat and has a nice surprising kick to it. It’s an awesome way to end a meal, or a perfect choice for sitting in front of a crackling fire with your special someone. Different but memorable, just like a holiday should be!
Speaking of memorable, my advice is to try something different this Valentine’s Day. I’ve found the best way to create a lasting memory is to try something new, and share with someone important to you. Give it a try! I bet you’ll remember.
