TROY, Mich. (May 15, 2018) – The crème de la crème of dining is coming to metro Detroit! Tickets are now on sale for Hour Detroit Magazine’s inaugural Savor Food & Wine Week, taking place from Aug. 6 – 12, 2018 at the Detroit Zoo. Savor Food & Wine Week is the ultimate celebration of the best wine and culinary creations, consisting of multiple events including the Savor Food & Wine Festival, Celebrity Cruises’ Grand Red Affair and Taste of the Town.
The Celebrity Cruises’ Grand Red Affair – set for 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9 – is the ultimate high-end tasting event featuring premium red wines from 20 of the best local and national vineyards. Hosted at the Detroit Zoo’s Polk Penguin Conservation Center and Wildlife Interpretive Gallery, guests can expect gourmet chocolate, cheese, and coffee pairings along with live entertainment.
The Savor Food & Wine Festival will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10 and Saturday, Aug. 11. This culinary extravaganza will showcase fine wines, craft beers, specialty cocktails and gourmet bites from the best wineries, breweries, distilleries, restaurants and food purveyors both locally and nationwide. General admission tickets are $65 and include 12 beverage tastings, unlimited food samples, live entertainment and exclusive access to the award-winning animal habitats at the Detroit Zoo.
During the festival, private tasting seminars will be held at the Ford Education Center including a wine tasting seminar at 6 p.m., a beer tasting seminar at 7 p.m., and an absinthe tasting seminar at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 per seminar and must be purchased with a general admission ticket. Seating for each tasting is limited to 30 people.
Taste of the Town is a restaurant-week style event showcasing prix fixe menus at several of the city’s top restaurants, culminating with the ultimate Sunday Brunch. Current participating restaurants are viewable on the www.savordetroit.com, although additional restaurants and details will follow.
Guests to all events must be 21 or older to attend with valid I.D.
