Who doesn’t love a great battered fish filet? Well let me tell you, they’re even better when you fry them up in batter using a little Mad Hatter IPA from New Holland Brewing Company. This is a super tasty, super easy to make fish recipe topped with a little avocado spread and tomato salsa.
Ingredients:
Battered Fish 3 tilapia filets 3 tbsp of olive oil 1 cup of flour 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp cumin 1 tsp chili powder 1 tsp garlic salt 1 cup of Mad Hatter IPA |
Tomato Black Bean Salsa 1 large tomato 1/2 red onion 1 jalapeno pepper 3 tbsp black beans 1 tsp garlic salt 1 tbsp lime juice |
Avocado Spread 1 ripe avocado 2 tbsp non-fat plain yogurt 1 tbsp light sour cream 1 tsp hot sauce |

Step 1
In a medium bowl, mix the spices and flour, then mix in in the beer. Set the mixture aside for a bit.
Step 2
In a small bowl, chop up and mix together the salsa ingredients.
Step 3
In another small bowl, chop up and mix together the avocado spread ingredients.
Step 4
Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Dip the tilapia filets in the beer and spice mixture, coating each side with batter. Toss them in the pan and cook 5 minutes on each side.
Step 5
Remove from the pan, and plate, top each filet with a spoon full of avocado spread, and then top with a healthy portion of black bean salsa.
