When you drink Michigan beer, you drink Michigan water. Did you know that beer is 90 percent water? The craft brewers that call their home Ann Arbor get their beer making water from the Huron River, the cleanest in Southeast Michigan. The reason it is so clean, besides the environmentally courteous folks in Ann Arbor, is the Huron River Watershed Council (HRWC).  The HRWC works to protect our source of safe, clean water every day.

Brew For The River

To show appreciation of the hard work of the HRWC, and to support water quality, water conservation and great Michigan beer, we invite you to a series of special events hosted at the breweries of Ann Arbor every Thursday from August 11th to September 8th. Each brewer has something special planned for their night and will donate a portion of their proceeds to HRWC. Wolverine (8/11) 2019 West Stadium, http://wolverinebeer.com/. Starting at 6 p.m. with free pizza, live entertainment and Beer specials all night. Get your Brew for the River Passport at Wolverine.

Jolly Pumpkin (8/18) 311 South Main, http://www.jollypumpkin.com/. Brewer Ron Jefferies premiers Hummocky Lick Sumac Sensation Starting at 4 p.m

Grizzly Peak (8/25) 120 W. Washington, http://grizzlypeak.net/. Starting at 4pm Grizzly will feature their full menu of food and beer plus the Watershed Ale: a cask of our house-made beer flavored with a blend of herbs native to the Huron River watershed.

Arbor Brewing (9/1) 114 East Washington, http://www.arborbrewing.com/. From 4p.m. to 7 p.m.  ABC will celebrate the completion of their Green Brewery Project.  Matt and Rene of ABC will talk about the green impact of the project followed by a brief talk by Laura Rubin, ED of HRWC.  Enjoy the special Blackberry Blonde beer only at this event.

Blue Tractor (9/8) 205 E Washington, http://www.bluetractor.net/. Brewer Tim Schmidt will be brewing a Huron River Celebration brew that will be a small batch beer specifically for our event. 50% of the proceeds of that beer will go to HRWC along with 10% of all growler and Mug Club Membership sales.
