Corktown’s St. Patty’s Day Parade is like Black Friday for your inner Irishman.
Batch Brewing Company was fortunate enough to partner with Camp Casey yesterday to serve the teeming throng of kelly-clad revelers. It was a great opportunity to throw our doors open and raise money for a great charity partner, as well as our own start-up costs.
How lucky are we to be a part of this amazing neighborhood! Corktown embodies everything that is the past, present, and potential of Detroit: thriving businesses next door to mid-transition storefronts, beautiful single-family homes and lofts adjacent to empty lots, and history – nearly 200 years worth. It’s important to note: my business partner Anthony O’Donnell has been investing in Corktown for the last 6+ years, rehabbing the building Batch Brewing Company will soon call home.
The tally isn’t in yet, but yesterday’s marathon drinking session was an important day. Not only did we generate some cash flow, we were also able to tell our story to a live audience. And while many of those audience members might have fuzzy recollection issues today, many will be visiting www.BatchDetroit.com to hear more about what we’re working on.
With eight days left in our crowd funding campaign, we’re in the final stretch. It’s clear: Corktown is ready for a brewery. And as many observed yesterday, It’s about damn time that beautiful old building had a business in it. We agree wholeheartedly.
We had a glimpse of the future yesterday, and we liked what we saw.
