August 2 is easily one of the best days of the year (as far as alcohol-related holidays go) – it’s IPA Day! Across the country, people will be celebrating one of the most popular styles of beer (and probably my favorite) – the IPA.

IPA’s have a long history across the world. Although the details are debated among beer enthusiasts, the general story is that the English needed to find a way to get beer to their soldiers and citizens in India. Traditional beer styles would spoil on the long journey, so they added more hops and upped the alcohol content. Ta-da! India Pale Ale was born!

IPA’s have evolved into several different styles – American IPA’s, Belgian IPA’s, etc, but all are characterized by their distinctive hop flavor.

In honor of IPA Day, we want to know what you’re favorite Michigan IPA is. I did my best to include every one I could think of, but I’m sure I missed some – so if your favorite isn’t listed, let me know in the comments!
